Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida
Employment Contract legal?
I was recently offered a position at a financial firm in Florida and was asked to sign an employment contract. There are two things in it that bothered me.
1) That I had to give them a 90 day notice before I resigned because of the workload and training that goes into this position. If I didn't, it could hurt the company tremendously.
2) That is I quit during the first year, I had to reimburse them for all the licensing classes and licenses that they paid for. Meaning, for the expenses incurred licensing me.
And if I breach this, I am liable to them monetarily. Is this legal? I know Florida is an at-will state.. does that apply to me too?

Re: Employment Contract legal?
This is common. I have seen it before. At-will would apply to you also though this would vary the terms so that if you left without the notice you would be responsible for the classes, etc.
