Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

Reasonable Resignation?

I worked for government agency in what I thought was a professional position for only 7 weeks. During this time my ''mentor'' (co-worker in charge of my training) spoke often about sexual subjects. She would state things like ''this chocolate is better than you know what'' and ''when I retire I'm going to get a young fellow and live on an island''. Once I walked into her office and she talked more explicitely about a woman's private area. This was a very small office about ten employees. There were also employees gossiping and co-workers who refused to help me with learning information about the job. I quit the next day.Are either of these situations ''hostile work environment?'' Do you believe I am entitled to any monetary compensation?

Re: Reasonable Resignation?

This unfortunately does not sound like a situation that was severe enough to constitute unlawful harassment, and as a result, a resignation would most likely not be actionable. The standard is very high and requires egregious conduct that is repeated and severe. A few inappropriate comments do not meet that standard.
