Legal Question in Employment Law in Florida

unpaid wages

My son and another driver worked for Kama Trucking out of Ocala FL. for 2 months. They were told this was a start up company and to hang in there that they would be paid. They continued to take loads with promises of being paid but were only paid $600.00 each. We called the Dept. of Labor but they were no help. We did some research and found this company was no start up company but had been restarted 8 times. How do we get these young men their money?

Re: unpaid wages

It depends alot on what the original promise/agreement was with regard to what they were to be paid. Depending upon the sum, in Florida, if under $5,000 you can either file a small claims court case or have an attorney send a demand letter and see if he can negotiate a resolution. If over $5,000 owed, then small claims is not really the resource and you would need an attorney to try to negotiate a resolution or file a lawsuit.
