Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

deposit on rental unit

I recently applied for an apartment, was approved and then they requested that I put down a deposit to ''hold'' the unit. I found a better deal, quickly, and notified the apartment manager. I requested a refund of the $200.00 that I paid and she said no that ''they just don't refund the money unless I find someone else to rent the unit that I was going to rent''

Re: deposit on rental unit

Your rights depends on what you signed. It would not surprise me at all if a deposit to hold a unit was not refundanble. When you pay to hold it, they stop looking for renters.
