Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
I have been living in a rented home for 4 years. The owner recently sold and the new owner had originally told us we could stay on as long as we needed. The purchaser said he wanted us to stay. He said he would lower the rent to $800 per month from $1250, which was a substantial savings for us. We had been house hunting up to this point. So we stopped looking for a house in May figuring we had plenty of time to find what we needed since inventory was so low after school closed.
There is no lease as of 6/15/17 it ran out, The only thing we were told is that the new owner would not charge us rent at this point. He is willing to give us the month free which ends on 8/15/17.
After the closing, we were informed we had 30 days to vacate. Something to do with their insurance. We have been looking to buy a house but not found anything yet. At this point we have a little over 3 weeks left. We have not been given any formal notice yet to vacate, just verbally. I guess my question is, can they evict us at this point or can I have more time to fine a home to purchase if needed?

In order to legally evict you, you must be served a written notice.
They can evict you. They have already given you more time than required. by statute. Use the remaining time wisely.
