Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

I provided a 30 day notice to vacate to my landlord; however my landlord wants me to pay after the lease end date as it was not a 60 day notice per the lease agreement. But when i hand the notice to landlord and ask them question if its OK that its late, they told me its OK and i should be good to go. My lease expired on Oct. 16, 2009. Now, they want me to pay the whole Oct. rent till Nov.6 without any notice. I just recieve 3 day notice on Oct.5, 2009. When they told me its OK, I know it wasnt written on any legal documents but when someone give their words to an Individual they pretty much gave you an assurance right? Do i have any rights to testify on this???

You don't need a legal document just something in writing signed by you and the LL. Since you did not have that, it would be your word against his. So, without a writing you have no proof. If you did not give notice as required by your lease agreement, you could be on the hook for whatever it says is your penalty.
