Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida
I received a notice from the Property manager of my apartment complex stating: due to recent requirements from the fire department they will be placing a 5lb fire extinguisher in my apartment. Great! But they go on to say that they are going to charge me $75 dollars for it due with my next months rent. The letter came on the 25th, so they expect me not only to pay for the extinguisher but to do it in 5 days. Is this legal?

If the complex is being required to have the fire extinguishers, then I suspect they are liable for the costs. However, be prepared for an increase in rent when your lease comes up for renewal.
