Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Florida

tenant

My wife moved out and rented a condo which she could not afford so her mother paid two months of rent then my wife came back home. She signed a six months lease--name removed--Plus she paid a security deposit. The owners are wanting the remaindered of the rent. What should we do? We can not afford to paid them. The marriage counselor suggested she move back home. My wife rented this condo from a Realtor who know her mother. Two days after my wife signed the contract she said that she did not feel comfortable signing a six months lease and ask if it could be change to a three month lease and the Realtor told her not to worried about it. Both the Realtor and the owner knew about the situation of our marriage and knew we were going to counseling THANKS

Re: tenant

In the end, it is her contract and she signed the darn thing. She owes the rent unless the condo can get re-rented (which probably won't happen). You can't blame others for your wife moving out and renting a condo. she should have moved in with mom for a bit and mom should not have encouraged her to rent something that she could nopt afford. All that is hindsight. She signed the contract. She's a "big girl," and the condo is her's.
