Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

Borrowed Motorcycle

My ''friend '' borrowed my motorcycle about one month ago and claims he was involved in a hit and run. He left the scene and returned to work to show me the damage. He is now telling me he does not feel responsible for the whole repair. I am headed to small claims court, what is your opinion? Also he is angry that I didn't have insurance for the motorcycle, (we reside in FL and it is not required).

He is responsible for damage to the motorcycle while it was in his possession.
