Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

Local police leave 105 pound woman and newborn on side of road and told to walk

My wife was the victim of an auto accident late this morning. Her car was towed, and deemed non driveable. Two seperate patrol cars arrived at the scene and proceeded to take the report. My wife's face, chin, and both arms are bruised mostly resulting from the deployment of air bag. She was extremely shaken, and apparently weekend from the accident. Granted the walk home was approximately 1700 or so feet, not a very long haul for myself being a former Marine in the 105 degree heat with every one even the officers pouring sweat. Given that my wife weighs a mere 105 pounds, and just three weeks ago gave birth to a healthy 7.14lb baby, but also include the carseats(our 3 year old had been dropped off at school prior)the 8 pound or so diaper bag, 4 pound purse and the baby in the one carseat. When she walks from the front door to her car she struggles in TWO trips. Only 50 feet round trip altogether. The officers didn't even consider giving her or even helping her find a ride home. She went home called me and so exaustedly went straight to bed.Can we/or she file a complaint against the police department? How can these officers be proud of what they do? I feel it is purely cruel. Nobody let her use a cell phone to call me 6 miles away.

You can file a complaint with the Police department. In fact if this was the type of accident where the airbags deployed, I am very concerned that the police did not have EMS respond to the scene. THat walk home may have aggraveated any injuries she may have had as a result of the accident. Unfortunately most times people will not feel the injuries until days after the accident. I would say consult with an attorney to evaluate whether there is a cause of action resulting from the Police Inaction. She should be able to pursue a case against the other driver if the accident was caused by the other driver's negligence.
