Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

Personal Jursidiction

Bill and his wife Susan live in

Mississippi, but are vacationing in

Florida. Robert, who is from New Jersey

and is also vacationing in Florida, runs a

red light and hits Bill and Susan's car,

causing them to suffer personal injuries

and property damage to their car. What

states' courts have personal jurisdiction

over Robert in Bill and Susan's suit

against him? Why?

New Jersey, where he lives, and Florida, where he hurt someone. Mississippi may have jurisdiction but that would be ubusual. He would need to have "minimum contacts" with the state so as to permit jurisdiction to be exercised over him. They have test questions in law school and on the Bar exam about this subject!!
