Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida
Personal Jursidiction
Bill and his wife Susan live in
Mississippi, but are vacationing in
Florida. Robert, who is from New Jersey
and is also vacationing in Florida, runs a
red light and hits Bill and Susan's car,
causing them to suffer personal injuries
and property damage to their car. What
states' courts have personal jurisdiction
over Robert in Bill and Susan's suit
against him? Why?

Re: Personal Jursidiction
New Jersey, where he lives, and Florida, where he hurt someone. Mississippi may have jurisdiction but that would be ubusual. He would need to have "minimum contacts" with the state so as to permit jurisdiction to be exercised over him. They have test questions in law school and on the Bar exam about this subject!!
