Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida
Tobacco Lawsuit
I am a 68 year old woman at the end stages of COPD.(Emphysema). I am also on oxygen 24/7. In August 06, tobacco ads started appearing in all the newspapers looking for clients who were diagnosed with cancer or copd between 1990 and 1996. From 1996 to 1999 the law was unclear. I was diagnosed in 03/99. and when I told this to the Attorney they still kept me on as a client. Because of the Engle ruling, my case was dropped. That was six months ago when I signed on with this Law Firm in Florida to represent me. I called them and told them that I would never be able to find another attorney before the Statute of Limitations ran out. The Secretary assured me that I still have a year to file. Is she wrong. I am on a limited income, and do not have the strength to look for an attorney. They only want 1990 to 1996 claims. I have decided to pursue this claim on my own. My medical reports are all in. I have done my homework but where do i get a complaint form? I walked in the law library opened the book and closed it. I am very discouraged with Attorney's. I'll never see any compensation but I have two daughters that I might be able to help.
