Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida

I moved at the end of my lease. The owner is filed an intent to impose claim on security deposit for a portion. We have filed an objection with the property management company. the property management company has issued a check for the undiputed portion and have advised us that we can cash it and it will not effect the dispute. Is this true or do we have to wait until the issue is resolved?

If the Landlord was trying to pass the check off as full payment, they would need to express this in some way. Typically by writing payment in full on the memo line of the check. You can cover yourself by writing partial payment on the memo line and sending a confirming letter to the managment company noting your intent that this check is only for partial payment (for the undisputed portion of the security deposit).
