Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Florida
Real Estate litigation
I am a New York resident and I am being sued for payments I have not made to a Timeshare unit in central Florida. I cannot afford to pay and I no longer care about the timeshare unit.

Although ;you are still responsible, I have had success in settling these matters.

An attorney might be able to negotiate a settlement for you; it might be a better result than ignoring this.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such nformation, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.
The developer or whomever is the Plaintiff in this action might be willing to take back the unit with a Quit Claim Deed. You will need to call them up and speak with them.
If not, I would speak with whomever is managing the building. They may know who might be willing to accept the deed from you. If you are not successful, I would consult a real estate attorney who might have better luck in negotiating this for you for a nominal fee. Unfortunately, you have less chance of success after the suit has been filed because now additional fees are owed to the lawyer for the Plaintiff and for court costs. Whatever you do, do not ignore this as a judgment may be entered that will seriously affect your credit score.
