Legal Question in Traffic Law in Florida

Is This Legal??

Hi I was wondering if you could help me because I don't know to much about law but anyways I was driving down a main road with no tag on the back of my car and there was a cop sitting in the median and he went to come pull me over but I turned down 2 streets got out and ran anyways later that night when I got out of jail I talked to the girl whos house I was going to and she told me that they were wondering what happened to me so they called me phone and some guy answered (cop) but yeah he pretended to be my brother and told them I left my phone and could he deliver it to them and he stayed on the phone with the girl and went to there house and started questioning them and stuff and asking them if it was about drugs and stuff I was wondering if it is legal for them to use MY CELL PHONE like that and they also told the girl that I had been in a hit and run and that people were injured which wasn't true so is that legal can they use my cell phone to go to someones house to question them about something they don't even know and lie to them and tell them I was in a hit and run?? also for reference I talked to the girl and she said she is willing to testify in court contact me back at [email protected] thankn you

Unfortunately, while what the officer did was unethical, it does not appear to be illegal. When he tried to pull you over and you fled, you engaged in a felony, Fleeing and Eluding an Officer. This is a third degree felony in Florida.

So his tactics were used just to identify you and are nothing more than shady investigative work.

I would obtain an attorney and not say anything to the police. There may still be problems identifying you to prove you were the driver, which would be necessary to press charges.

For all the cop knows, someone could have stolen your car...

Best of luck,

Richard
