My father-in-law just passed away and my wife and her brother will get the house from the will, The house is free and clear. That is all he had, but he and their mother who just passed 30 days ago have a lot of credit card debt... what happens to the credit card debt?

A Petition To Determine Homestead will need to be filed in order to cut off the credit card companies. If this is successful, you may be able to avoid paying any of the creditors given that the only estate asset is the homestead.
