Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

FL vs. NY

What is the difference between a FL will and a NY will? My parents have a NY will drafted many years ago and they now live in FL. Should they have the wills redone?

Re: FL vs. NY

Not necessarily. A Will of a Florida resident, which has been validly executed in New York, will be probated and administered in Florida.

The key issue is whether the old wills accurately reflect the present wishes of your parents. It would be wise to have them consult with a Florida lawyer to review their wills.

If valid in NY, it is valid in FL.
