Lawyer named Executor of Trust

Expected approx. fee to pay a lawyer to act as Executor in an average Trust worth a million dollars.

2-3 % also depending upon complexity of issues.

Statutory "presumed reasonable fee" is 3/4 of 3% of the Trust assets. That is usually very excessive for a Trust the size of yours, and the fee is negotiable. Shop around if you can.

Most firms in Maryland will charge the statutory maximum in charging fees for acting as a Trustee. (There is also a different stat. for executors in an estate)

The trustee fee is based on income and the value of the trust assets so it is double sided.

I believe the fairest way is to have an attoney charge their normal hourly fee/their staff's rate for work the staff does.

The staff fee is generally much lower than the attorneys fee and in as much as most of this work can be administerial the staff can normally provide that representation. This can safe the Trust thousands of dollars
