Legal Question in Banking Law in Georgia
a bank wrongfully closed my account
Do I have grounds to sue this bank for the disturbing situation of being denied an account based on wrongful reasons? The bank chose to close my account because they spotted an incident of forgery from 2004 for a woman who formerly owned my current home. This information could have never been found on my own credit reports or record. They said they would send proof to the local branch but could not so the branch manager just stated she would reopen the account. No apolgies for this grave mistake were offered. I don't trust this bank so I am not satisfied with the account being reissued. Thank you for your help.

Re: a bank wrongfully closed my account
You provide far too few details about the closing of the account, forgery, etc. You also don't indicate how you were damaged, beyond having to open a new account elsewhere, and you do not provide details about the terms of your agreement/account with the bank. However, the biggest factor is that there is no legal "right" to have a bank account at a particular bank (or any bank, for that matter). If you do not like the service of a business, simply take your business somewhere else.
