Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia
What right do I have as a business owner? Customer comes into my office wants to buy 4 cars for his family and pay cash, he states that he has won a lawsuit and want to buy cars for his family. We did not allow the cars to leave the dealership until the check cleared and everything seem to be OK. This was in 2015, now in 2017 we get a letter from the bankruptcy lawyer stating that the amount of the 4 cars need to be paid to them because the customer was in a chapter 13 ( in 2013) and then convert it to a chapter 7 (in 2016). What right do we have as a dealer and is there any laws that would allow this to go thru?

It is not possible to see what is really happening without reviewing the Bankruptcy case, so you will need to have a Bankruptcy lawyer review the case and the details to see whether the lawyer (for the trustee?) has a good claim for the return of the money and whether you have defenses. If it is a demand from the Trustee (or any lawyer, really) you need to address it sooner than later before they file a lawsuit.
