Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia

Financial repsponsibility for personal items stolen from office.

8/2003 the Co. I manage was formed. I was provided w/a laptop due to excessive travel required. 10/2003 I hired more employees & passed on my rather heavy PC. I'm 5'(105lbs) & wanted light-weight travel friendly PC. But more expensive, so showing my commitment to new Co. I purchased new PC w/the acknowledgment of future compensation. 4/04 my PC & Palm disappeared from office. Boss said to file on my homeowners. He didn't even file police report b/c nothing else in office was taken (not even attached printer), I had to. Was told they would replace, so waited, they made no move to & w/deadlines & no other avail. PC in office, again I purchased. 3 wks later laid off b/c couldn't show documents (ironically all on stolen laptop). How can I get reimbursed? Shouldn't Co. file on insurance?

Why should they? They dont have any legal obligation to pay for them or help you with your insurance company either. And as you dont work for them anymore they dont even have that motivation. Looks like you got caught being a nice guy...and that never goes unpunished for long.
