Re: Forming an LLC
You didn't state what business you are trying to form. However, it is always better to seek the advice of an attorney and an accountant before starting a business. However, if money is tight, the two sources you should start with are Georgia's Secretary of State's website and the IRS.
The Secretary of State's website gives you general information on reserving a name, creating your articles of incorporation, and filing the name with the state.
The IRS website gives you basic information on getting a TIN number and disclosing your filing options.
Also, check with your local Chamber of Commerce. They may have general information to get you started.
Re: Forming an LLC
In Georgia, the assistance of an attorney is not required, but certainly recommended. Improperly forming a LLC may mean that you loose the benefit of limited liability, which means that your personal assets can be used to satisfy debts and obligations of the LLC including judgments from lawsuits. It can also have serious tax consequences.
