Fraudulent Credit Cards

I sold airline tickets to Nigerian clients who contacted me by email. My ticketing agency recently discovered that the cards were stolen. They are holding me liable for the cost of the tickets which amounts to about $20,000. I assumed that if the consolidator ran the credit card, that the cards were valid. Unfortunately, the contact person in Nigeria is not a valid Travel Agency and all of the telephone numbers and addresses for the clients are bogus. I have business insurance and I am a sole proprietor. What recourse do I have if the company takes legal action?

If the company takes legal action (meaning they sue you) then you will need a lawyer to represent you. If this happens, please feel free to contact me. IMPORTANT: Do not let the thirty days from the date of service of the complaint on you go by.
