Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia

license agreements

Hi, I am a handbag designer of high

end handbags. My business is small

and I sell mostly through my

website. I've been approached to

design a handbag for a magazine that

will be the official bag for the

magazine. Kind of like a mascot,

because the magazine is named after

a type of purse. They want to also

use my name along with the product.

I'm thrilled, but this is new to me. I

honestly don't know what to charge

for my design fee. I would appreciate

being pointed in the right direction of

what type of proposal I need to offer

for this service. I'm sure royalties

should be involved, and I don't want

to sell myself short. Thanks

Re: license agreements

What to charge for services is not really a legal issue. It is simply a matter of negotiation between the payor and the payee. Of course, the price should depend on exactly what you are selling - the rights to the intellectual property v. just a limited license.
