Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia

I have owned a franchise for the last 4 years and I do not wish to continue doing business with the franchisor. How do I go about preparing for a graceful exit and/or selling it before the end of the term?

You need to take your franchise agreement to a local lawyer. Usually these agreements provide for sales and termination of the franchise.

As a franchise attorney, I can say you need more than a review by a business lawyer. The answer depends on what your franchise agreement provides. But it also depends on what was disclosed (or not disclosed) in the related disclosure document - called an FDD or Franchise Disclosure Document. Consult with a franchise attorney for specifics.

See a lawyer (one who specializes in franchise law). You may not be able to cancel an agreement without costs or penalties. There likely also are notice requirements.
