Legal Question in Business Law in Georgia

I registered a LLC. I have two divisions. One is a trading/Retail and the other is shipping. Is possible to us a DBA for the shipping division in order to differentiate the divisions?

Maybe, if you properly register it. No successful business does not have a lawyer on retainer or call (and a CPA), so your posting suggests you have neglected to do this and it may come back and bite you. Stop everything, and set up times to meet with both a CPA and a lawyer to see if you are set u properly to legally do business, to protect you personally, and to save taxes. If you did this yourself, odds are none of those goals were addressed. The lawyer will also deal with your dba plan.

Certainly. However, keep a couple of things in mind. First, any trade name is required to be registered with the local superior court. Second, simply using a trade name will not provide liability protection between the two divisions. Meaning, if one division is sue, the assets of the other division would be at risk just the same. You may want to consider using a holding company and putting each division in an LLC. Speak with a local business attorney to assist you.
