Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Georgia

I am an African American women born and raised in the USA and I am also a Muslim that wears Islamic garmet including a face veil.

I live in a multicultural area and it is not uncommon to see Jews, Muslims and other religious groups wearing their traditional religious garbs.

On Dec 23, I walked into a national chain store in my neighborhood and a clerk begin yelling "Terrorist, Terrorist, Terrorist" while smiling and giggling and then said " Look everybody there's a Terrorist." I verbally admonished her. Then walked into one of the aisle. I was shaken, upset and frightened. I could only think about what could have happen to me if the security or even the customers had reacted to her yell.

I, without any doubt, feel that durning these trying times in our country she not only discriminated against me but also jeopardized my safety.

I went to the manager to report the actions and inform her I will be contacting the corporate office regarding the matter. Considering there are more details to this incident I feel it would be better to contact an attorney to handle this matter.

What is the best type of lawyer for this case?

Considering this is a national store what advice do you give or what type of questions should I ask to when deciding on which attorney to hire.

It was good that you reported the incident to the manager. As a result, there is a record of the incident. You should retain a civil rights attorney who also handles defamation actions.

If you live in the Atlanta Metro Area, which includes the surrounding counties, I am available to discuss the matter with you. I have handled civil rights cases and cases against national stores for various matters. My number and e-mail can be obtained by double clicking my name above.
