Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Georgia

Attorney Obligations

I had an accident which involves slipping off a transit bus. I found an attorney to represent me. The transit admitted to it's responsibility in my case by offering my Attorney $1700, which doesn't even put a dent in all my bills that I've occured. They havent offered anything higher. So now my attorney is debating on sending it to litigation or not. Can they just drop my case? It seem like they are at a stand still and not pushing. What can I do? And what are they obligated to do?

Re: Attorney Obligations

Do you have a copy of the retainer agreement you signed? It may answer many of your questions.

Also, the attorney cannot settle without your permission. Has your attorney explained to you how much he/she believes the case is worth and why? Also, you should consider the costs of litigation and the chances of winning. These are things your attorney should explain to you.
