My mom has my sons birth certificate. She refuses to give it to me. Can she legally keep this document from me?

I agree with attorney Riddle. It's so much easier to just request a certified birth certificate from the county where your son was born. It will take much less time to do that versus arguing with your mother or even going to court to obtain an easily replaceable document.
