Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
Automobile Accident and Resulting Claim
I was on vacation in the state of Georgia. I had parked my car in the hotel parking lot on the first evening of my stay. I came down in the morning to take my vehicle out and found it to be damaged from being struck by another vehicle. I located the vehicle that caused the damage in the valet parking section of the hotel. I tried to contact the owner of the vehicle staying at the hotel when I was interrupted by the representatives of the valet company of the hotel. The adamantly claimed that the owner did not park their vehicle at any time during their stay at the hotel and it was the valet staff that always did. I explained the situation and then they began to deny it was possible that that the car had struck my vehicle. I called the valet company directly to address the problem and they have been giving me the run around and now will not returning my calls now after stopping me from resolving this with the owner of the vehicle because they were responsible for driving the car when the damage was done.
How do I go about starting legal proceedings to re-coup the damage to the vehicle?

Re: Automobile Accident and Resulting Claim
I would recommend speaking with an attorney in the area of your vacation before proceeding with any claim. Due to the involvement of the valet company and the accident taking place on private property, it can be very complex.

Re: Automobile Accident and Resulting Claim
To add to the response, if something like that happens again, call the police (even if it is on private property) and don't just give up on immediately contacting everyone involved. That means when the damage is discovered, the hotel manager, valet manager, other car owner all immediately convene in the parking lot to get to the bottom of it. Had that happened, and a police report was obtained, the situation would likely have been resolved.
