Legal Question in Consumer Law in Georgia
I've found a dog that has a microchip, I had her scanned and got the owners info. Tried calling the number on file but it was no good. The family who she belonged to wants her back, we've had her for two months. Am I legally obligated to give the dog back to her original owners? They say they can prove she is theirs. My kids have really bonded with the dog and would be heartbroken if we had to give her up.

You knew what the right thing to do is when you posted. It is not your dog. Give it back. Your kids might learn a better lesson by respecting others, doing the right thing and making the dogs owners happy instead of just keeping someone else's property.
It's a crime to keep lost property. You should have already returned the dog. You can be arrested and charged.
