Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia
Case Dismissed; What Now?
I was sued by a major Credit Card company for failure to pay a debt, despite the fact that I had paid the debt through a collection agency, had receipts and proof, and had provided the proof to the Credit Card Company. After doing the the interagatories and other legal stuff, the lawyer for the Plaintiff requested a summary judgement which was denied. I was set to have a pre-trial conference this morning, but the judge sent a baliff to let me know that the Credit Card Company's lawyer called yesterday evening to let the Judge know the case is dismissed.
My question is: what is my next step to have the negative input from the Credit Card company removed from my Credit Reports? Do I need to counter-sue? Should I retain a lawyer to do this and get some $$$ due to liable?
Thanks.

I suggest contacting the credit card companys attorney and get something in writing. Then you can start working on getting the negative history removed from the credit reporting agencies. You should be able to do this yourself but it may take time and effort to get it worked out.
While you may be able to sue, you got to ask yourself what are my damages? Put that into dollars. If it is significant or if you feel strongly aggrieved you may want an attorney. If not forget about it and be happy that they are off you back.

You provide no facts about what is reported on the credit report, but if the information is accurate you probably have no dispute. If you have a dipuste, follow the instructiong that usually come with a credit report, or call them to ask the procedure.
