Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Credit Card Debt by Spouse

If a spouse dies and the survivor later finds that he used the credit cards in her name to run up gambling debts, is she liable? What about a second mortgage she didn't know about? How could he do that without her signature? The house is in her name. This is not me. I have no spouse. I'm asking for a friend.

Re: Credit Card Debt by Spouse

You may not be responsible for some or all of the debt. However, you need a consumer rights attorney to unravel the matter.

I recommend calling 2 or 3 attorneys on the Consumer Advocacy webiste. www.naca.net. There are about 21 attorneys in Georgia with varying experience and practice specialties.
