Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia
When a creditor places a judgement on you, what happens next?
I received notice from a lawyer's office that they were about to place a judgement on me for a hospital bill of almost $2500.00. I called the attorney's office and tried to make arragements. The attorney told me that I had to pay at least $250.00 a month. I knew in my heart I could not make that payment. I have made 2 payments of $250.00 thus far but could not afford last months payment. I received notice today that judgement has been placed on me.To be honest with you, I could not really understand much of the legal mumbo jumbo that was written on the paper. What happens next? Will I have to go to court, jail, do they suspend my license, what happens to me personally.....having a judgement against me. I know it's bad against your credit, but trust me, my credit is ''shot'' now anyways. Please enlighten me as to what to expect with this judgement and how I go about taking care of it?
