Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Georgia

Reporting a debt to collections

I am paying a hospital bill every month until the bill is paid off and they said they are sending it to collections and reporting it to the credit agencies even though I am making regular payments on the bill every month. Is this legal for them to do? What are my rights and laws to protect my credit?

Re: Reporting a debt to collections

If you are required to pay the entire amount by a certain date and you have not, then they can send the account to collections. Of course, they have to give you credit for any accepted payments made.
