The worst thing you can do is to talk to and trust the sleaziest people in America - debt buyers. They will lie to you and do everything they can to separate you from your money. Sometimes they break the law. But even when they don't they do NOT want to help you.
You need to see a lawyer and you need to see one YESTERDAY. Do NOT continue to talk to the people that sued you. A lawyer will review your options. In some cases, through bankruptcy or otherwise you may even get to not pay at all. And in some cases you may even have a right to sue them.
A judge is not going to rule on a settlement agreement without discussing it with both parties. Get an attorney as soon as possible.
I can't see a judge not accepting a settlement agreement on a debt so something is definitely wrong here.
I agree - you need to get a lawyer. NOW.
