Legal Question in Criminal Law in Georgia
Disorderly conduct case, probation violation
In September of 2004 I plead guilty to a disorderly conduct charge under the first offenders act. I was sentenced to 12 months probation and community service. I never reported to my probation officer and I assume a warrant was then issued. I desperately want to resolve this issue, and I am considering turning myself in and accepting whatever punishment is ordered. What is the process for that sort of thing? What sort of punishment would I likely face for the actions? What kind of treatment options are available for me if I seek help for an ongoing drug and alcohol addiction?

Re: Disorderly conduct case, probation violation
You should get an attorney, and have him deal with your problem at court. If you simply show up at court, you risk being arrested, cuffed, and held in jail. Your attorney can probably work out a plea bargain that includes the treatment options you mention. You face some additional penalty for the failure to comply with court orders. Contact me if interested in doing this right.

Disorderly conduct is normally a minor offence and the probation is informal. You should contavt an attorney regarding your situation.
