Re: adoption
If your children are residing in Georgia and have been there for a significant time adoption proceedings should take place there.
If you would like to discuss more thoroughly your rights and the procedures you would need to follow to aid this contact my office for a consultation.

What you are describing is a step-parent adoption. If your ex wife and her husband are agreeable to doing that, they should contact an attorney in Marietta to start the proceedings. The stepfather is the actual party and client and he would need to contact an office such as ours which handles stepparent adoptions in Marietta GA. Your ex wife would sign forms consenting to the adoption (but her rights are not affected) and you would need to sign a surrender of parental rights which that attorney would prepare.
If you and she and he are all in agreement about this, I suggest you have her and him contact us or another attorney about starting these proceedings.
