adoption by husband

My daughter had a child out of wedlock, father is not on birth certificate and have not had contact since before childs birth. She is married now and her husband wants to adopt her child. What does she need to do?

Her husband may be able to file a step-parent adoption petition if the father has failed to communicate with the child or support the child for over 12 months. They should see a family law attorney to discuss the case and file the petition for them. Please let us know if we can be of service.

This is done by step-parent adoption. This can be an expensive or fairly inexpensive undertaking, depending on the level of cooperation from the father. We have handled a significant number of them, and would be glad to talk with you further.
