Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

agreement

I have recently divorced and have a question about the legality of an oral agreement. I was to pay half of my wife's legal fees which amounted to $375.00 and help furnish her home . While out shopping for a couch, she decided on one a little out of my price range. I asked her at the time if I would purchase this more expensive couch if I could be let out of the fee owed for the lawyer. She agreed to this at that time. Now, one month later, she is demanding the money for the lawyer. Am I required to pay this or was her agreement at that time legally binding? I appreciate your help in this matter.

Re: agreement

No oral agreement is enforceable unless she can provide proof of that agreement. You should consult with a local attorney. Call around; many attorneys offer free initial consultations.
