Can child support arrears be waived in GA if both parties agree?

Parties cannot legally agree to violate a court order.

Child support is awarded for the support of the child; therefore, the parties must seek the approval of the court for modification of that obligation. The court will want to assure that the child's well-being is not endangered by reduction of the award.
