Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
child support
I`m about to get custody of my 14 year old.. My ex will have my other 2 children..and of course I will have 1.. If I go back to modified support is it safe to say that I will pay for the 2 kids that she has based on my income and she will pay for the child that I have based on my income.. I was wondering if that is true or not....thanks

Re: child support
In split custody cases, as you have, the child support obligations will be calculated for each household. Your obligation for the 2 kids with their father and his obligation for the 1 child with you. The two will be offset and the party with the greater obligation will pay that difference to the other.
Re: child support
Georgia's new child support, based on income shares, goes into effect in January, so your assumption is not accurate. The calculation of support will be based on both your combined incomes and certain expenses.
