Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

Child support

My daughter is 17 dropped out of high school and getting her GED. The wording in my divorce papers are as follows:

Said payments shall begin upon the signing of this agreement, payable thereafter until the children reach the age of eighteen (18) years, die, marry, join the armed forces, or become self supporting, whichever occurs first. Provided, however, should the children still be attending high school when they reach the age of eighteen, the child support shall continue to be paid until the children graduate from high school, but not beyond the age of twenty (20) years.

Is he still required to pay child support?

Re: Child support

Unless she's completely self-supporting or married, he would still have to pay until age 18.

Re: Child support

Yes, until age 18. The decree says support goes to age 18 unless she is still in high school when she turns 18, then it is extended to high school graduation. The only exception would be if she has become self-supporting or one of the other terminating events (death, marriage, army, etc.) has occurred.
