Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia
I am going through a divorce right now. Together for 6, married for 2. A week before I found out my wife and i spent around $5,500 on new living room set and T.V. She took everything because it was paid by her school loans. I have taken out around $10,000 in school loans to pay for bills and fixing our cars. Do I have a fighting chance of getting half the stuff. Every gift anything we got she took and is telling me I should not contest I would be waisting my time I won't get everything. I don't really have money for a lawyer right now. and I don't know whether to contest or let it go. thank you. In Georgia

Since we have no financial and other information I have no way to tell you what you might get. I also don't know what other issues (children, debt, etc) exist.
Bear in mind that contesting a case will cost thousand of dollars. So if the only dispute is personal property you could spend more arguing than you would buying replacements.
However, even if you agree, it is important that you talk to a lawyer ASAP.
You didn't state when she bought the items (before or during marriage). In any event, of course she's going to say you're not entitled to anything. You shouldn't take her proclamation as truth. if you want to contest the property division, you can do so.
I would recommend that you have an attorney. However, if you cannot afford it and cannot qualify to obtain pro bono services, you need to submit evidence that the property she took is marital property. Georgia is an equitable property state. As a result, the judge has a lot of discretion regarding the distribution of property.
