You can file for child support in DC, and possibly in Georgia, depending on an number of factors, including whether he ever lived in the state, whether you receive welfare or other entitlements for the child, etc.

I am licensed in DC and Georgia. Therefore, I can discuss the matter with you further to determine the best jurisdiction for your situation. . Of course, it would be more convenient for you if you could file in Georgia. However, that all depends on the particular facts in your case.

If he lives in DC you likely can. Bear in mind that the legal fees could be significant.

Another option would be to start a case for $25 with Georgia Child Support, and let the state do the work for you.
