Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

my girlfriend and I broke up. She gave me "custody" of our 9 month old son.She wrote on a piece of paper that she gives me custody of him and I am on his birth certificate. How do I go about legitimizing him so I can then get full legal custody of him ?

Get a lawyer. Right now you have no right to have the child with you. Act before she sues for child support or reclaims the child, which she can do at any time.

According to the zip code you provided, you are in Gwinnett County. You can petition for legitimation, custody, and child support in one proceeding. Although you should have an attorney. If you cannot afford one and cannot qualify otherwise, you should go to the Gwinnett Famil Lay Clinic Site. This website has forms and other information that may assist you.
