my ex husband and I have joint custody of our son. He has lived with me most of his life. There was a incident were cps was involved on my part but no action was taken. He is eight years old. My son wants to come home and we want him home. He is now with his father but is wanting to come back.

what should I do to get him home

If no action was taken by CPS, and you still have joint custody, is your ex following the visitation/custody order? If not, that part of the problem can be solved easily. You can simply file a petition for contempt. In any event, you should retain counsel for the contested matter. It would be easier to go back to the attorney who represented you in the divorce matter.
