Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

My husband is currently paying child support for one child from a previous relationship. We have two children together. If we divorce, will his current support payment go down to be able to pay for support for our two children?

No, unless he were to go to court, seek a modification, and have the judge decide to do so (which may or may not happen).

When you request child support, there will be a worksheet completed by you and your husband. He will include his current child support obligation, which will have an influence on the amount of money you receive for support. Also, once his obligation has been established, it is likely that he will seek to modify the child support to lower his support.
