Legal Question in Family Law in Georgia

I live in Georgia and my child support was current and for the month of May I worked a small shut down and I ended paying double the child support for that month. What I want to know is can I get the amount that was overpaid back?

Why get it back? If you have proof of the double payment, write the mother or child support enforcement and inform them that you paid double in May. Therefore, there is no payment due in June. In the letter, attach proof of the "ADVANCED" payment.

If your wages are being garnished, you will have to request a refund from the child support agency. Send a letter (certified mail/return receipt) with proof of payment of the double payment to the agency.

No, you cannot get it back. You may be able to get credit for the overpayment though as suggested by Attorney McGill. However, if child support enforcement will not give you credit, you might have to file a motion before the judge.
